What is rosalia beetle?

The Rosalia beetle, also known as Rosalia alpina, is a species of longhorn beetle that is native to Europe and Asia. It is named after the Sicilian saint, Rosalia, because it was first described in Sicily in the 18th century.

This beetle is approximately 1-2 inches in length with black and white stripes across its body. It has long antennae and strong jaws that it uses to feed on wood, particularly the deadwood of oak, beech, and poplar trees.

The Rosalia beetle is considered a critically endangered species due to habitat loss, degradation, and fragmentation. It is protected in many European countries and is listed as a species of concern in some parts of Asia.

Conservation efforts include habitat restoration, creating breeding sites, and monitoring populations. Additionally, people are encouraged to avoid disturbing the beetle’s habitat and to report sightings to conservation organizations.
